We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to report directly to the GM, the role will be responsible for continuing to drive a positive H&S culture for our client by delivering a comprehensive and pro-active site-based H&S support service that meets the needs of the business and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities for the Health and Safety Officer:

Proactively support, consult and advise employees, managers and plant management on all questions concerning the safety-related design of workplaces, including ergonomic considerations for work processes and the use of work equipment as well as hazardous substances.

Designing, planning and delivering effective safety training and safety briefings based on the risk assessments and safety instructions as well as support of the managers in their implementation.

Supporting managers in the preparation and regular review of risk assessments, method statements, site inspections and audits.

Responsible for the implementation and maintaining of a system to perform and monitor of legal required health & safety trainings.

Safety assessments of all plant equipment, (new) machines and systems within production area.

Responsible for monitoring legal compliance with health and safety legislation throughout the plant by planning and carrying out site inspections (audits) including documentation, reporting duties etc. Ensuring COSHH compliance and ISO45001 accreditation is maintained.

Coordinate and analyzing health and safety incidents and investigations (accidents, near misses etc.) including the necessary reporting to plant management and managers, as well as establishing root cause, definition and monitoring of corrective actions and the lessons learned process. Applicants key credentials:

Post holder should be a self-motivated professional and have excellent interpersonal skills with experience in a similar level role ideally from within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Must hold a recognised H&S qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH etc).

Must have excellent communication skills and be able to mentor and support employees and managers on H&S issues as well as being able to have difficult conversations in a timely manner as required.
