Description:
Major player in the construction and buildings sector, is currently seeking a Health & Safety Lead to oversee a multi-disciplined construction project at near Bishops Stortford. This project, valued at £650 million, offers a remarkable opportunity for those looking to make a significant impact in a senior role within the industry.
This is a long-term contract opportunity that allows for hybrid working arrangements, although you must be willing to work on-site for at least three days a week. Reporting directly to the Head of Construction Safety & Resilience, you will be a key figure in ensuring the health and safety protocols are meticulously followed and improved upon throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Implementing and managing comprehensive health and safety protocols and procedures
Ensuring compliance with all UK health, safety, fire, and environmental legislation
Overseeing risk assessments and mitigation strategies
Leading investigations into incidents and accidents to determine root causes
Collaborating closely with project management teams and external stakeholders
Developing and delivering health and safety training programmes
Maintaining robust records and documentation
Reporting to senior management on health and safety performance and improvements
Job Requirements:
Experience of working as a Health & Safety Professional in a multi-disciplinary organisation, preferably within a facilities, engineering, and construction setting
Level 6 NVQ, Diploma or Degree level qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
Good working knowledge of UK health, safety, fire safety, and environmental legislation
Thorough understanding of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
Proficiency in health, safety, fire safety, environmental, or quality management systems
Certified member of a recognised professional body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM, APS)
Experience in project management with a focus on health, safety, and fire safety
Strong skills in leading investigations into safety incidents and accidents
Active listening, strong communication, and influencing abilities
