An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading main contractor on a major construction project in Bridgwater, Somerset.
This is a site-based role supporting the delivery of a high-profile project, working closely with operational teams to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance are maintained throughout the construction lifecycle.
The Role
Reporting into the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:
Providing proactive health & safety support to site management teams.
Conducting site inspections, audits, and safety tours.
Ensuring compliance with current HSE legislation and company procedures.
Supporting investigations into incidents, near misses, and accidents.
Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, and workforce engagement activities.
Reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
Building strong relationships with subcontractors and site teams to drive a positive safety culture.
Monitoring project performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements
Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor position within construction, civil engineering, or major project environments.
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum.
Strong understanding of UK health & safety legislation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH/GradIOSH).
Experience working for a main contractor on large-scale construction projects.
