Job Type: Full-time, permanently employed by the business

We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Officer to take ownership of health and safety across our clients heavy manufacturing operation.

This is a hands on role for someone who is comfortable getting out onto the shop floor, walking the sites, talking to people, identifying risks and making things happen. This isn't a desk-based position where policies sit in a folder you'll be expected to roll your sleeves up and make a tangible difference to the safety of the business.

You'll work across two sites, helping to ensure that our people, processes and working environments meet the highest possible standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and drive the company's health, safety and environmental strategy across both sites.
Manage and maintain HSE management systems, ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry best practice.
Lead projects to achieve and maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification.
Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
Conduct and oversee risk assessments, audits and workplace inspections.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing effective corrective actions.
Monitor, analyse and report HSE performance metrics to senior leadership.
Chair HSE committee meetings and drive improvement actions to completion.
Manage permit-to-work systems and contractor safety processes.
Support sustainability, waste reduction and environmental improvement initiatives.
Deliver training, toolbox talks and engagement activities to strengthen safety awareness and culture.
Act as the primary contact for external regulators, auditors, insurers and customers on all HSE matters.
Provide expert advice to senior management on health, safety and environmental risks and compliance.

About You

Proven experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental management role within manufacturing, foundry, engineering or a similar industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
Experience implementing, maintaining or achieving ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification.
A confident leader with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
Strong investigation, problem-solving and audit skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Desirable Qualifications

NEBOSH Certificate, Diploma or equivalent H&S qualification.
IOSH Managing Safely or similar accreditation.
ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification.
First Aid at Work certification.
Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma qualification.

This is hands-on heavy manufacturing so you will be out on the shop floor, wearing PPE, walking both sites and getting involved where it matters.

We're looking for someone who is physically fit, practical and comfortable rolling up their sleeves to make a real difference.

If you're experienced, practical and ready to get stuck in, we want to hear from you
