Health and Safety Officer

We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Office to join our Tamworth based client.

You'll be joining a manufacturer and distributor of genuine automotive Parts and Accessories, the company being a key subsidiary of one of the top 6 global automotive companies.

Your role will be to maintain a safe working environment for all employees and promoting positive health and safety culture in the workplace. You'll achieve this through implementation of guidelines established by regulatory bodies and direction from the management team.

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will need to have/be:

NEBOSH National General Certificate (required)
Occupational Health & Safety Diploma (desirable)
Environmental certificate (desirable)
First aid/ Mental Health First Aid (desirable)
Tangible experience in a similar role
Strong problem-solving skills and organisational and influencing skills
Strong IT skills
Clear communicator (verbal and written)Details:

Salary: Up to £43, 500 + £1,610 lunch allowance (in addition to basic salary)
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 5.30pm and Friday 9.00am - 3.00pm

Duration: PermanentRole of Health and Safety Officer:

Timely completion of regular safety reports and statistics for management review
Evaluate and interpret results of reporting, audits, corrective actions, operations reports and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring mechanisms are in place to enable accurate measurement, reporting and rectification- identifying gaps for improvement and developing mitigation plane with operations to support rectification.
Direct preparation of external ISO 14001 & 45001 and other applicable standards.
Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of new HSE (Health, Safety and environment) legislation as well as other developments that can impact the business
Implement and continue drive for psychological and physiological wellbeing (mental health) of all staff.
Seeks opportunities for continuous improvements/improving working processes.
Manage workflow of Warehouse Trainer to ensure staff are educated, trained and competent to carry out their roles and assist in reducing risk and likelihood of accidents and incidents through training and monitoring.
Provide health and safety courses for employees to educate them on necessary safety procedure (e.g. manual handling, MHE, Hazardous training, Fire Marshall, first aid etc.)
Monitor work processes to identify unsafe practices or breach of safety regulations.
Monitor and assist with the creation and coordination of the inspection and audit schedule, undertake and provide support for operational health, safety, wellbeing and environmental inspections and audits.
Provide input and participate in the development of new and any updates to existing standards.
Organise safety training to induct and educate company staff
Develop effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Manage stakeholders.
Manage contractors and consultants in all aspects of health and safety education.
Serve as subject matter expert on safety related compliance measures, ensuring alignment with all applicable regulations and oversight.
Carry out investigations on incidents, complaints, and recurrent health cases and provide solutions
Drive the implementation and compliance of business health, safety, environment and wellbeing policies, procedures, guidance notes and standards.
Manages incident investigations in line with business procedures Attend health and safety seminars to update job knowledge and enhance skills
Serve as subject matter expert on safety related compliance measures, ensuring alignment with all applicable regulations and oversight.Benefits of working as a Health and Safety Officer:
