Procter and Street are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and expanding North-West based Civils company operating in the Highway Maintenance sector. Our client is coming up to their 50th year in business, and have built a highly desired client-base, which has been solidified due to the outstanding quality of service they provide.

They are looking for an Health & Safety professional to join their growing team who has a wealth of experience within the Civils and particularly Highways sector. The ideal candidate will embody our client’s commitment to delivering a five-star service, and will be instrumental in providing a team of 100+ staff with the knowledge and best working practice required.

The role:

Acting as a subject matter expert, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to advise and improve H&S Management Systems and ensure a safe working environment for all employees on-site. As well as:

* Have the ability and knowledge to carry out site safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance and company standards are adhered to.

* Provide competent advice on current legislation, policy and procedures to key stakeholders within the business.

* Advise and coach managers across the business and promote a Health and Safety culture ensuring regulatory requirements are met.

* Develop Risk and Method Statements as necessary and in line with legislation for site operations.

* Prepare and communicate health and safety reports to key stakeholders.

* Attend internal and client meetings advising on health and safety matters.

* Investigate and report on incidents whilst identifying the root cause analysis and course correction where necessary.

* Scrutinise existing systems of work to identify opportunities for improvement.

What are we looking for?

Our client is looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking candidate who can come in to the role and make it their own. There will be the opportunity to grow the team and this area of the business, especially around the quality and sustainability initiatives, so good people management is a key part of the role. As well as:

* NEBOSH Construction/General certificate

* Working knowledge of ISO standards

* Strong technical knowledge of CDM and relevant health and safety legislation

* Civils background is highly desirable

* Excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of engaging with clients, contractors, and regulators

* Driven individual with strong leadership and influencing skills
