Description:

Carmichael UK are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join a major Tier 1 highways scheme in Norfolk. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering one of the region's most significant infrastructure projects, helping to drive a positive safety culture and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager and project delivery teams, you will provide expert guidance, support operational compliance, and champion best practice across site activities.

Key Responsibilities

Support the implementation of company Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies and procedures across the project.

Conduct site inspections, audits and safety reviews to ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Provide practical advice and guidance to project teams on health and safety matters.

Assist with risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.

Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, ensuring effective close out of actions.

Monitor and report on project SHW performance and key safety metrics.

Maintain the project competency and training matrix.

Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and health & safety training where required.

Support subcontractor assessments and appointments from a safety perspective.

Promote a proactive safety culture and contribute to injury-free environment initiatives.

Liaise with stakeholders, enforcement agencies and the wider project team when required.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years' Health, Safety & Wellbeing experience.

NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent NVQ qualification.

Previous experience within construction, highways, civil engineering or another high-risk industry.

Grad IOSH, AIEMA or working towards professional membership.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage operational teams.

Ability to work within a fast-paced project environment and manage competing priorities
