Health and Safety Officer
Spalding area
Up to £36k
My client is a very well respected fresh produce business based in Spalding. Due to ongoing growth they are on the lookout for a Health and Safety Officer. This will be a unique opportunity, as the role will also involve some work within “production” too during peak periods.
The role will oversee, develop and improve the Health & Safety practices and behaviour across the company. Working with the senior H&S Advisor to ensure compliance with Health and Safety law, and adherence to the H&S management system across their sites.
Typical responsibilities include –
* Develop and lead initiatives to embed health and safety practices across all sites.
* Work with colleagues to develop Safe Systems of Work for all machinery and equipment.
* Review and develop risk assessments across all sites.
* Investigate accidents and incidents and analyse trends to prevent reoccurrence.
* Support the Technical Team to ensure compliance with standards and accreditations.
* Manage COSHH assessments across all sites.
* Manage Safety PPE stocks and liaise with suppliers.
During peak seasons there will also be some work in the production area. This will include –
* Ensuring adequate staffing resources are managed in line with production schedule
* Responsible for the efficiency, accuracy, and safe working of Line Leaders/staff within production area
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HSE professional, ideally with some experience within the food, fresh produce or horticultural sector. Some experience in Production will be beneficial – but not essential. A HSE qualification is essential.
