Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

Location: Lancashire, UK

Position Overview:
As a Health and Safety Advisor you will play a crucial role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment for our employees. Based at our warehouse in Lancashire , you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety programs and policies. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fostering a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

* Overall Tasks:

* Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, government & UK regulations and law and ensure adherence to them.

* Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues.

* Collaborate with department and shift managers and supervisors to establish and maintain effective safety programs and initiatives.

* Provide guidance, support and training to employees on health and safety matters, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and accident prevention.

* Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to educate employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of equipment and machinery.

* Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, near-misses, and occupational injuries, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

* Drive and chair the Health and Safety forum across all shifts, keeping accurate records and building a positive health and safety culture within the business.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and safety-related data.

* Stay informed about new developments in health and safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends, and recommend changes or improvements to existing policies and procedures.

* Conduct regular audits and evaluations of safety programs to assess their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.

* Ensure that regulatory health surveillance, fire drills and spillage drills are carried out.

* Collaborate with external agencies, such as regulatory bodies and insurance providers, to ensure compliance with legal requirements and manage any claims or inspections.

* Drive and ensure that we comply with any environmental emissions regulations. Creating accurate and up to date monthly reports on any emissions etc.

* Ensure that we are driving towards sustainability and low carbon usage.

Qualifications:

* Proven experience as a Health and Safety advisor or a similar role, preferably in the food industry.

* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety.

* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
