Health and Safety Officer

Job Type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 20 hours per week, flexible

Key Responsibilities:

* Safety Management: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental management systems in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

* Regular Audits: Conduct inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.

* Employee Support: Provide guidance and support to employees and management on health, safety, and environmental matters.

* Thorough Investigations: Liaise with site management, Human Resources, and Occupational Health to ensure thorough investigations are conducted in line with employment law for any health concerns raised.

* Data Analysis: Establish and maintain robust reporting mechanisms to monitor and analyse safety performance data.

* Training and Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs that promote a safety-conscious culture.

* Incident Management: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

* Emergency Planning: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to effectively manage potential crises or disasters.

* Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and drive the implementation of effective safety and environmental initiatives.

* Accurate Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health, safety, and environmental activities.

Key Skills:

* Proven experience as a Health, Safety, and Environment Manager in a manufacturing environment.

* In-depth knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.

* Professional certifications in health, safety, and environmental management.

* NEBOSH diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.

* Membership of IOSH.

* Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.

* Strong influence and presence at all levels of the organisation, with the ability to impact directors and managers.

* Excellent reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.

* Superior communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building genuine relationships with colleagues and customers.

* Approachable, authentic, and able to maintain perspective in challenging situations.
