Job Title: Head of Pension Administration

Location: Sutton, London

Type: 12-month Contract, Hybrid

Salary: £600/day

Are you an experienced leader with a strong background in pension administration, seeking an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact? We are looking for a Head of Pension Administration to join a local authority in Sutton. This role involves leading the pensions administration function for both Sutton and Kingston as the Head of the Shared Pensions Administration Service.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage all member transactions and processes, including joiners, leavers, and retirements.
Lead key projects such as the Mccloud project and GMP Rectification project.
Provide leadership and guidance to all members of the shared Pension Team.
Ensure budget spend is maintained and explore opportunities to increase revenue or reduce costs.
Deliver efficient services to internal and external customers, including partner local authorities, SHP, Encompass, and Academies.
Provide training, advice, and support to staff, stakeholders, and Councillors.
Manage the Sutton and Kingston Shared Pensions Administration function, ensuring compliance with Local Government Pension Scheme regulations.
Complete government returns accurately and within required timeframes.
Assist in developing business plans aligned with corporate strategic goals.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with Members, providing briefings on relevant strategy, policy, and operational issues.
Prepare detailed and professional reports for the Pension Committee and Pension Board.
Attend Committee/Panel and Board meetings, as well as relevant briefings and training sessions.Additional Responsibilities:

Experience of managing an LGPS Pension Administration Team.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including staff, stakeholders, and Councillors.
Ability to lead and motivate a team, providing effective performance management to deliver key objectives.
Experience of providing training, advice, and support to staff, internal and external stakeholders, and Councillors.
Experience of providing professional advice to members, senior management, and departments of the Authority on all aspects of pensions administration.
Experience of managing income and expenditure with high limits of authority.
Knowledge of the Local Government Pensions Scheme, Pensions Scheme Regulator, and pensions good practice.
Able to input and retrieve information from the Council's various computer systems.
Knowledge of current LGPS issues and legislation, including but not limited to the McCloud judgement, GMP Rectification, reporting requirements, and dispute resolution procedures.If you possess these qualifications and experiences, we encourage you to apply for this pivotal role in shaping the pension administration landscape for Sutton and Kingston local authorities
