An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large healthcare organisation as a Head of Nursing / ED Nurse Consultant.

The post will be based in Wales, on an interim basis for 7 months, at a competitive rate.

The post holder will provide highly specialised professional advice, consultancy, clinical expertise and leadership to patients, carers, and Health Board staff. They will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies to directly influence the delivery of programmes of care across the full range of care providers of the health and social care economy.

Main Responsibilities:

Be an innovator, capable of pioneering new approaches to enhance practice;
Positive role model, demonstrating high quality, person-centred care;
Act as a change agent, challenging existing practice to improve quality of Care;
Take the lead in interpreting and implementing national guidance and policy pertinent to the service;
Gather, consolidate, and share information, acting as a resource across the organisation to improve outcomes using best practice evidence;
Lead on delivering quality improvements across a wide spectrum of service provision and to be an active member of quality & safety, clinical effectiveness, and professional nursing advisory groups across the organisation;
Creating and developing protocols and care pathways to enhance the delivery of healthcare to people;
Lead work across organisational boundaries and engage in inter agency collaboration;
Lead on the development of policies, procedures, and pathways to enhance patient care and professional practice;
Develop and implement evidence-based, multi-professional standards of care, clinical guidelines, and audit tools;
Act as a highly autonomous practitioner providing an expert resource to the organisation;
Provide expert professional advice to Executive Nurse and Health Board to inform policy and strategy development about healthcare systems for people with acute Illness
Lead in working collaboratively with Bangor University-School of Healthcare Sciences and other partner universities to undertake training needs analyses in respect of knowledge and clinical competence;
With Bangor University partners, collaboratively develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programmes to meet assessed training needs.
A successful candidate will have:

Registered clinical qualification at degree level eg Nursing degree or equivalent;
Master’s Degree or equivalent;
Extensive relevant experience at senior level;
Post-graduate management qualification or equivalent;
Evidence of creating and sustaining positive relationships with senior medical, nursing, and managerial staff;
Track record of significant continuous professional and management development;
Budget management;
Clear leadership skills and an ability to deliver within a transformational style;
Influencing and team building skills.
