Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Location: London Borough of Merton, Secondary School

Commencement Date: September 2024

Salary: £36,745.00 - £56,959.00 Teachers Main/Upper Pay Range Inner London plus TLR 2c

TimePlan Education are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead a dynamic and dedicated MFL department at a thriving secondary school in the London Borough of Merton. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator with a proven track record to make a significant impact and contribute to the ongoing success of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, manage, and inspire the MFL department to deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences in both Spanish and French up to Key Stage 5.

Develop and implement a forward-thinking MFL curriculum that meets the needs of all students, promoting engagement, progression, and achievement.

Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, providing constructive feedback and support to enhance performance.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, supported, and motivated to achieve their full potential in MFL.

Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the school to promote cross-curricular links and enrichment opportunities.

Engage with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to communicate the department's vision, successes, and areas for development.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related field. Strong preference for being able to teach Spanish and French

Proven experience in a leadership role within an MFL department, with a strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes.

Excellent subject knowledge in Spanish and French, with the ability to teach up to Key Stage 5.

A passion for promoting languages and cultural understanding among students.

Effective communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
