This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team in an in-house role at this leading provider of multi-disciplinary consulting services.
Reporting to the Legal & Risk Director, you will be expected to manage a business facing workload which will include advising internal stakeholders and liaising with external advisers and clients. The work will focus on managing a team and personally delivering high quality, succinct and timely legal advice, becoming a trusted legal advisor to the Group companies.
Day to day tasks will involve reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex contracts within the construction, engineering and commercial industries, as well as providing advice and support to the Group companies. As a key member of a successful and growing in house legal function you will play a key role in the management and training of the Legal & Risk team.
The right person will help to draft and deliver legal training across the Group, and will assess compliance and risk management requirements, developing and updating key processes as and when required. The role will require you to assist with complex company secretarial tasks and to assist the Legal & Risk Director with management of contentious matters as well as with general dispute resolution; this part of the role involves claims made against the Group, payment disputes and supplier disagreements. In general, the role will require you to support the business' delivery of large scale and high-profile projects from a legal perspective.
You will be a strong communicator with a proven ability to influence and negotiate at both an operational and senior level.
Key Accountabilities:
Leadership
Management and organisation of the Legal and Risk Team including task allocation, communication and support
Commercial acumen
Contract Reviews
Contract management
Managing contract reviews and negotiations
Providing support and training to more junior members of the team
Drafting and advising on complex commercial agreements
Utilising and developing AI tools and capabilities to assist contract reviews and negotiations
Legal Support
Planning and implementing corporate projects (e.g. restructures).
Undertaking M&A due diligence
Management of claims
Managing payment disputes
Reviewing compliance requirements and updating processes
Managing company secretarial requirements.
General advice to RSBG UK companies
Research and advice on legal and regulatory obligations
Template Library
Managing template document requirements.
Risk Management
Managing and advising on risk management frameworks across the RSBG group (strategies, policies and processes)
Developing risk reporting
Ensuring business compliance with governance framework
Training
Developing content, organising and providing in-person and virtual training to senior teams.
Insurance
Assisting RSBG UK brands with insurance enquiries.
Arranging ad-hoc or additional cover to support business needs (e.g. travel, motor and property requirements).
Assisting with insurance programme renewals
Experience:
Experience in a similar role, with experience in the construction industry. Must have experience working on construction or commercial contracts ideally with In-house experience
Qualifications
LLB, LPC
