Adecco are now recruiting for a Head of Highways and Transportation for a London Borough Council

Location: Whitechapel, London
Contract Type: Temporary
Start Date: June 2024
Contract Length: 6 months
Working Pattern: Full Time, 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Salary: £385.62 p/h PAYE - £506.94

Our client, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join their team as the Head of Highways and Transportation. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the functions responsible for the maintenance and management of the highway network and its related assets and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the Highways Asset Management, including Highway Maintenance, Streetlighting, Structures, and Local Flood Risk Management.
Manage client commissioning and traffic management, including Road Safety, Cycling, Streetscene Design, and capital improvements delivery.
Lead Transportation Planning, including Development Control, Highway Register, Transport Policy, Standards, and Guidance, as well as Supporting Measures such as Travel Demand Management and Road Safety Education.
Review, develop, and implement policies and strategies across the service.
Build and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders and represent the organisation on national and regional professional forums.
Ensure efficient budget delivery and meet income and savings targets.
Establish and maintain internal management systems to monitor service performance and identify areas for improvement.
Lead and coordinate staff teams in the provision of various services within the department.
Promote equality among all staff and deliver services in a non-discriminatory way.
Contribute to the council's priorities and outcomes, while promoting a culture of sustainability and innovation.
Requirements:

Detailed and practical understanding of policy, legislation, and practise relating to highways and traffic management.
Proven record of developing and delivering strategic plans.
Experience in managing large projects and effectively managing a large workforce.
Strong project and financial management skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
