A highly reputable Main contractor specialising in Residential & Commercial mixed-use ‘Design & Build’ projects with additional project management services. Operating within other varied sectors of the built environment, successfully delivering exceptional services embracing both public and private work in commercial, educational and domestic sectors also.
 
The Opportunity:

Our client is looking for an ambitious & experienced Estimator/ Senior Estimator, who can offer 8+ years’ proven experience in senior role, preferably with a main contractor! You will have strong industry contacts and wide exposure to using various estimating systems.
 
The current commercial team currently manages this responsibility. However, due to significant and consistent growth, there is now an excellent opportunity to hire a hands-on Estimator. This addition will enable the team to concentrate on their workload for the next three years and beyond.
Located at the Hertfordshire head office, there is an exciting opportunity to establish and expand a new, dynamic team essentially from the ground up. Your role will involve close integration with the broader team, facilitating relationships with all members to promote transparency in project outcomes. Initial presence in the office for a minimum of four days per week is imperative, with the possibility of greater flexibility in the future.
 
Key Responsibilities - Senior Estimator:

Preparation of tenders to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, setting priorities.
Prepares construction budget by studying design information; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each element of the projects.
Evaluating offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and project requirements.
Obtaining bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating prices.
Tender Reviews, Analysis and Presentations.
Maintains cost keys and price master’s by updating relevant information.
Resolving cost discrepancies by collecting and analysing information.
Preparing tender reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Supporting commercial team.
Regular review of the supply chain. To be successful as the Lead Estimator, you will need to possess the following:

Minimum 8+ years’ senior or management experience working with a Main Contractor on a variety of projects.
Be able to bring in new contacts to the company.
Exceptional Tendering, Estimating and Valuations background.
Ability to capably work under own initiative.
Be capable of scaling a Team, coming in as sole Estimator for the business, with a view of growing to Head of Estimating role.

General Package Info:

Salary: £75k-£95k DOE (Commission/Bonus structure discretionary)
Pension: 5% contribution by employee, 3% by company.
Healthcare: Personal/ Family (optional)
Standard Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Holiday: 25 days holiday per annum.
Probation Period: 3 months.
