Description:

Head of Content / Editorial Director

Location: London – Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office

Are you an experienced editor and content leader who can combine big-picture strategy with hands-on editorial expertise?

We're looking for a Head of Content / Editorial Director to lead the content strategy and delivery across multiple established B2B and B2C publications, spanning print, digital, podcasts, video, TV and live events.

This is a senior player-coach role. You'll lead a talented editorial team and set the overall content direction, while remaining close to the content itself – writing, commissioning, editing and developing ideas that engage audiences and deliver commercial value.

The Role

You'll take ownership of the content strategy and performance across a diverse portfolio, with responsibility for:

Leading, developing and motivating a team of editors and writers, including workload planning, objectives, one-to-ones and performance management.

Setting the digital content strategy, with a focus on growing organic traffic, audience engagement, return visits and overall website performance.

Working with B2B and B2C editors to develop compelling editorial plans across both magazines and websites.

Ensuring consistently high-quality, accurate and engaging content is delivered on time.

Keeping ahead of changes in search, SEO and the evolving impact of AI and LLMs on digital publishing.

Using analytics and tools such as Google Search Console and SEMrush to identify opportunities and shape content decisions.

Writing and commissioning news, features, opinion pieces, SEO content and branded/partner content.

Managing relationships with external YouTube, digital PR and other content agencies.

Supporting video and TV production, including scripts, production planning and filming.

Contributing to the content strategy and agendas for live events, including presenting or moderating when required.

Working closely with Commercial and Customer Success teams to develop compelling content propositions and campaigns for partners.

Building relationships across the industry and representing the business at events, press trips and industry activity.

Working with Web Development to identify and prioritise improvements to the digital platforms.

About You

You'll be an experienced editorial leader with a strong understanding of both digital and traditional publishing.

We're looking for:

At least 5 years' experience managing editors, writers or content teams.

Proven experience developing content strategy across digital and print.

Experience working across both B2B and B2C audiences.

Strong knowledge of SEO, organic search, digital publishing metrics and the changing search landscape.

Experience using analytics and SEO tools to drive content strategy.

Excellent writing, editing and commissioning skills across news, features, SEO and branded content.

Experience managing external agencies and creative/content partners.

A strong understanding of the travel sector, with an established industry network.

Commercial awareness and the ability to develop content ideas that deliver value for both audiences and commercial partners.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Desirable

Experience with YouTube, video or broadcast production.

Podcast production or editorial experience.

Experience developing content for conferences, awards or other live events.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to take a senior leadership position within an ambitious media business while staying genuinely close to the content.

You'll have the freedom to shape the editorial agenda, develop a talented team, influence digital growth and explore new content formats, while working across an exciting mix of publishing, video, audio and live events.

If you're a strategic editorial leader who still loves writing, commissioning and creating great content, this could be the ideal next step
