Head of Broking
Up to £80,000 Basic + 15% Annual Bonus + 33% Profit Share | Hybrid Working
Our client is a growing independent commercial insurance broker with ambitious plans for the future. We are looking for an experienced, commercially driven insurance professional to join the business as Head of Broking & Client Growth.
This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional broking or management position. You’ll combine technical broking, client development, leadership and business growth, working closely with the Managing Director and having a genuine influence on the future direction of the business.

The Opportunity
As Head of Broking & Client Growth, you’ll take a leading role across the broking function while continuing to develop and manage your own commercial client portfolio.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Leading, mentoring and developing the broking team
* Managing and growing a portfolio of SME and Mid-Market commercial clients
* Driving new business and supporting client retention
* Building strong, long-term relationships with insurers
* Providing technical oversight on complex commercial placements
* Identifying and developing new growth opportunities
* Working closely with the Managing Director on strategic initiatives
* Contributing to the wider direction and growth of the business
This is a hands-on leadership role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being close to clients, the insurer market and the day-to-day realities of commercial broking — not someone looking for a purely operational management position.
Who are we looking for?
You’ll need a strong commercial insurance background, with experience working across SME and Mid-Market clients, alongside a proven ability to develop and retain relationships.
We’re looking for someone with:
* Strong commercial insurance broking experience
* A proven track record in client development and retention
* Good insurer market knowledge and established market relationships
* Experience mentoring, leading or managing colleagues
* Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
* A sound understanding of FCA regulatory requirements
Desirable:
* Cert CII or Dip CII qualification
* Experience using Acturis
* Exposure to Property, Commercial Combined, Liability and Fleet
* Existing client, introducer or insurer relationships
