Interaction Recruitment are seeking an experienced, passionate and motivated Head Chef to join a well-established, food-led pub near Royston.

The establishment is entering an exciting new chapter under new management, and we're looking for a talented, hands-on chef who can help drive the kitchen forward, maintain excellent food standards and contribute to the continued success of the business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Head Chef or ambitious Senior Chef looking to take the next step in their career, with the chance to play a key role in shaping the kitchen operation.

The business is primarily looking for a permanent member of the team, offering an opportunity to establish yourself within the operation. However, experienced chefs seeking more flexible or casual working arrangements are also encouraged to apply, as alternative arrangements may be considered depending on the kitchen's operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring smooth and efficient service.

Prepare, cook and present consistently high-quality pub food.

Lead, motivate and support kitchen staff, creating a positive working environment.

Organise preparation and service to meet varying customer demand.

Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control and presentation.

Manage stock control, ordering, deliveries and food waste.

Monitor food costs and support kitchen profitability.

Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, allergen management and health and safety regulations.

Maintain excellent standards of kitchen cleanliness and organisation.

Support kitchen staff development and training.

Work closely with the pub management team to develop an efficient and successful kitchen operation.

Bring enthusiasm, ideas and a proactive approach to the business as it relaunches under new management.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager or an experienced Sous Chef / Senior Chef ready for progression.

A strong background in pub kitchens, casual dining or similar hospitality environments.

Confidence managing kitchen operations independently.

Excellent cooking skills, with an emphasis on quality, consistency and presentation.

Strong organisational skills, including stock control and food cost management.

Good working knowledge of food hygiene and allergen requirements.

Leadership skills and the ability to motivate a kitchen team.

A reliable, practical and hands-on approach.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Access to your own transport would be advantageous due to the pub's location and varying working hours.
