Head Chef – Hudsons Independent Restaurant and Bar

Hudson’s is a vibrant restaurant and bar in the heart of Putney and we are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Head Chef to join our dynamic team. As a Head Chef you will work closely with our Executive Chef and General Manager to be the driving force behind the high standards of food quality, consistency, and creativity that our restaurant is renowned for. Our new all day menu has been developed by our Executive Chef and we require a great Head Chef like you to launch and deliver it.

Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation and Execution: Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food items according to established recipes and standards. Ensure that all dishes are prepared with precision, proper techniques, and within appropriate time frames.

2. Kitchen Management: Take charge of managing the kitchen operations. Oversee the day-to-day activities, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure smooth workflow to maintain quality standards and efficient service.

3. Team Supervision: Assist in supervising and coordinating the junior kitchen staff. Provide guidance, training, and feedback to maintain high performance and productivity levels.

4. Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks on ingredients, dishes, and overall food presentation. Monitor portion control, taste, and texture to ensure consistent excellence in flavour and appearance. Strictly adhere to recipes and plating instructions as provided by the company.

5. Kitchen Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. Monitor inventory levels and assist with food ordering and stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness. Ensure all supply issues and order issues are communicated to the general manager in a timely fashion and where applicable.

6. Safety and Sanitation: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and labelling of ingredients. Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen area.

7. Collaboration and Communication: Foster positive working relationships with the front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations and exceptional customer service. Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and hold regular kitchen meetings and staff briefings.

Requirements:

– Proven experience as a Head Chef or relevant role in a high-volume restaurant environment.

– In-depth knowledge of brunch, lunch and evening cuisine, culinary techniques, and food presentation.

– Excellent culinary skills, including the ability to prepare and execute a wide range of dishes.

– Strong leadership and management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire a team.

– Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

– Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations and the ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

– Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
