Job Title: Head Chef

Location: Brighton, United Kingdom

Salary: Depending on experience, up to £35,000 per annum. Accommodation is available if required.

Average Hours: 45-50 hours per week. Sunday evening, Monday, and Tuesday off. Wednesday to Saturday: 9:30 am – 3:00 pm, 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm. Sunday: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Start Date: Around June 19th, with a month-long transition period working alongside the current Head Chef to familiarize with the kitchen and clientele.

Role Overview: As the Head Chef at our client’s pub and restaurant in Brighton, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. You will lead a team of kitchen staff, oversee food preparation, contribute to menu development, and ensure the highest standards of quality and hygiene are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

Kitchen Management:

Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring efficient operations during service.
Oversee food preparation, ensuring dishes are cooked to perfection and presented attractively.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations.
Menu Development and Cost Control:

Collaborate with management to develop innovative and seasonal menus that cater to diverse tastes.
Monitor food costs, portion sizes, and wastage to optimize profitability.

Staff Training and Development:

Provide training and guidance to kitchen staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Encourage creativity and skill development among team members.

Supplier Management:

Source high-quality ingredients from trusted suppliers, negotiating competitive prices.
Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries.

Customer Relations:

Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for customers.
Respond promptly to customer feedback and complaints, striving to exceed expectations.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a senior kitchen role, preferably in a busy pub or restaurant setting.
Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Excellent culinary skills, with a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
