Job Title: Hardware Engineer  

Location: Bolton Head Office – 2 days per week in office required.  

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

Salary: 30K per annum

We’re looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to join us! Working directly with the , the Head of Health & Safety will join a high-performance, and super-friendly, quality and compliance team.

Job Purpose:

We’re looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to join us! Working directly with our Senior Hardware Engineer, the Hardware Engineer will join a high performing and quality IT team. The role will be based at the head office (Bolton) carrying out IT Hardware break fix, configuration, setup, and deployment. 

We require a hands-on engineer who can provide hardware-based break fix support across general IT hardware e.g. laptops, PC's, mobiles, printers, alongside managing the equipment, configuration, and re-deployment of the equipment to meet the business needs. The key focus will be on the support services of supplying hardware to our large estate of offices, schools, and care homes.

About the Role

This role is focused on promoting a positive health and safety culture through high quality training, service audit and robust monitoring. This role will cover multiple sites around the UK with the support of a wider quality compliance team and several contracted providers. You will work closely with our registered managers, headteachers and regional property teams.

Your duties will involve: 

Responsible for the Active Directory and Office 365 administration (New user creation & leaver management).

Liaising with the business and service providers to manage new starters, requirements, and stock control.

Daily recording of stock management.

Incident and problem resolution for services escalated from the Service Desk or generated via automated monitoring systems.

Providing hands on break fix and maintenance support across PC's, desktops, laptops, and printers.

Support Build room & Service Desk colleagues to meet deadlines and manage workloads efficiently.

Responsible for identifying, recommending, and amending inefficient work tasks and processes to improve efficiency.

Hardware and software builds.

Setting up workstations.

Hands on packing and shipping hardware equipment.

Desktop/laptop repairs to board level.

Repair and configuration of laser printers.

Configuration of mobile phones.

Preparation of new starter kit.

Identification and ordering of new parts.

Operating system deployment (imaging and installation).

 

Requirements:

 

Technical skills:

 

Previous laptop and desktop repairs (essential)

Imaging and configuration of hardware devices (essential)

WDS and MDT deployment (preferred)

Active Directory (essential)

Microsoft 365 experience (preferred)

Knowledge of MDM (preferred)

Knowledge of ticketing system and how to prioritize tasks.

 

Experience and Skills:

 

Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a similar role within a technical support desk or MSP, supporting internal and/or external customers (essential)

Accredited in relevant manufacturers hardware qualification (essential)

Strong knowledge of Microsoft products desktop and server platforms (essential)

Strong knowledge of working within an ITIL framework (essential)

Good understanding of IT infrastructure (essential)

Strong customer service skills (essential)

A broad technical knowledge of PC’s/peripherals and their architecture (essential)

Service desk experience working tickets (essential)

Strong working knowledge of current software packages and operating system (preferred)

Holds a professional qualification (Microsoft MCP, MCSE, MCSA, CCNA etc) or an IT Degree or working towards one (preferred)

Qualified in CompTIA A+ (preferred)

Accredited in relevant manufacturers hardware qualification (preferred)

 

The post holder will be expected to travel to site locations in the UK when required. The post holder will be expected to do training and keep professional qualifications up to date and relevant to the post.
