Permanent Position – Part Time

Are you an experienced gut microbiologist?

Would you like to work for a revolutionary microbiome sequencing company in London?

My client is focussed on redefining how we look at animal health. They are combining bioinformatic AI with cutting-edge research to investigate and identify gaps in the gut microbiome.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced scientist to join their growing team, bringing the latest scientific knowledge and a passion for companion animal health to the team.

This role would suit an experienced gut microbiologist with a history in canine animal health looking to contribute to improving pet health within an innovative company.

Key Responsibilities of the Gut Microbiome Scientist:

Work collaboratively to plan and execute research projects, collaborating with both branded and institutional partners to build an understanding of the market, rule-sets and diet types.

Act as a point of contact between the laboratory and customer service.

Support the wider team by keeping up to date with the latest science from human and animal health.

Where needed, work with the founding team and act as an external point of reference for the brand both professionally and for media.

Perform validation for updates to the diagnostic report findings  and the customer/veterinary dashboard technology.

Validate new product development from a research point of view.

Work both independently and collaboratively to build out the next generation of rulesets and recommendations for the database and reports, based on the latest scientific understanding.

To be considered for the Gut Microbiome Scientist you will need the following skills and experience:

An MSc or PhD in a relevant field such as Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Nutrition, Veterinary Science or Animal Health, or equivalent industrial work experience

Prior experience operating a back-end system while sitting as a contact between customer service and the laboratory.

Experience and/or knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows, NGS Library Preparations and/or alternative sequencing techniques.

Experience in the animal health industry, particularly with companion animal gut microbiome is highly advantageous.

Prior experience in planning and executing collaborative research projects.

Excellent communication and organisational skills with a personable nature to support relationship building and scientific advancement.
