Are you an experienced horticultural professional with a passion for plant cultivation and team leadership?

Here at Vitacress Herbs we are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Growing Leader to join our dynamic team, we’re looking for someone with a nurturing nature, who can lead and manage their team to cultivate and maintain thriving plants, ensuring the harvest of only the top-quality crops.

As a Growing Leader your Key Responsibilities will include:

Team Leadership & Management: Managing your team to produce and maintain healthy plants and harvest quality crops. Ensuring all practices and procedures comply with legislation.

Health & Safety: Managing health and safety with support from the Growing Manager. Ensuring staff understand unit risks and are trained accordingly. Support H&S reps and attend H&S meetings.

Collaboration: Driving a cohesive team approach, coordinating with other Growing Leaders for consistent messaging and role allocation.

Plant Care: Ensuring accurate sowing, plugging, and spacing of crops. Monitor for pests, diseases, and disorders. Manage irrigation and feeding.

Quality Control: Managing taste panels and support process validations. Ensure machinery operation is safe and accurate.

Data Management: Maintaining accurate records and input data into the IFS system. Ensure audit readiness at all times.

Training & Development: Assisting in staff assessments and training, promoting correct techniques and procedures.

Lean Manufacturing: Promoting lean manufacturing techniques and ensure IFS records are updated timely.

What Our Ideal Candidate looks like:

To be our successful candidate you must have previous horticulture experience with exposure to leading a team. You’ll be passionate about the work that you do and have good knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques along with, plants, production, propagation techniques, plant nutrition and disorders. You’ll be able to communicate effectively to lead your team with the ability to work with a wide range of people at varying levels across the business. It would also be advantageous if you have the below:

Good level of English and Maths
Pest and disease recognition
Horticultural + Health & safety qualifications
Basic food hygiene, fire awareness, and manual handling
Horticultural qualification

This position is being offered on a permanent basis, working at our Vitacress Herbs site in Runcton, Chichester. The role is 40 hours per week, working Tuesday – Saturday, 7am – 3pm with an attractive starting salary of £31,750 and offering a wide range of benefits, to include an incentive bonus, pension scheme and further benefits listed below:
