Group Operations Director
Our client is a rapidly growing Infrastructure Group operating across the Power, Utilities and Construction sectors. Due to continued expansion and ambitious growth plans, they are seeking an experienced Group Operations Director to join the executive leadership team and work alongside the CEO to drive the next phase of business growth.
This is a pivotal appointment that will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple business units, with full accountability for operational performance, project delivery, profitability, safety, quality and long-term growth.
A key focus of the role will be supporting the group's expansion within the EHV market, making this an excellent opportunity for an individual with proven experience delivering projects from 132kV to 400kV.
The Role
As Group Operations Director, you will provide leadership across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects ranging from 11kV through to 400kV, ensuring exceptional operational, commercial and safety performance throughout the business.Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, you will play a leading role in shaping business strategy, scaling operations and strengthening the group's market position across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple business units
Lead and develop operational teams to ensure consistent project delivery and business performance
Drive operational excellence, safety, quality and client satisfaction throughout the organisation
Hold full responsibility for group-wide operational performance and P&L delivery
Lead the group's expansion into the EHV market, leveraging your experience delivering 132kV to 400kV installation and infrastructure projects
Oversee the successful delivery of complex power and infrastructure projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV
Manage the commercial and contractual performance of major projects and frameworks
Provide executive oversight of NEC and FIDIC contract delivery
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability and self-delivery capability
Support business development, tendering and strategic growth initiatives
Strengthen relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners
Develop and mentor senior operational leaders across the organisation
Candidate Requirements
Proven leadership experience within the Power, Utilities, Energy or Infrastructure sectors
Previous experience operating at Operations Director, Regional Director, Business Unit Director, Managing Director or equivalent level
Strong understanding of power infrastructure, transmission and distribution project delivery
Demonstrable experience delivering projects from 132kV to 400kV
Strong commercial awareness with experience managing large-scale contracts and project portfolios
Working knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contractual frameworks
Track record of driving business growth, operational performance and profitability
Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to influence business strategy at executive level
