Group Financial Controller

Interim/Interim to Permanent Opportunity
Derbyshire (commutable from Derby / Burton-on-Trent)
£75,000 – £90,000 fte (or up to £400 per day depending on experience)

We’re supporting a growing sme, international engineering-led business to appoint a Group Financial Controller on an initial interim basis, or interim with view to permanent.
This is an interesting sector and complex business, the role isn’t just about producing numbers. It’s about getting into the detail, understanding the business and influencing it from day one.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of group finance, leading a team of 5 and partnering closely with the FD, MD and senior leadership team.
Immediate priorities:

Bringing structure to budgets, cost control and financial discipline
Enhancing MI, visibility and forward-looking insight
Delivering clear gross margin and performance analysis
Embedding finance as a credible business partner
Supporting decisions around investment, operations and cashThis is a hands-on role where you’ll be expected to hit the ground running, build relationships quickly and create clarity in a complex environment.

The Person

We’re looking for someone who will take ownership and make an impact quickly:

Strong technical grounding across group finance, controls and reporting
Commercially astute and able to turn data into action
Experienced in complex, operational businesses
Confident engaging stakeholders and challenging constructively
Proactive, curious and comfortable working with autonomyExperience in manufacturing, engineering or product-led environments would be highly advantageous.
