Description:
Grounds person
Location : London
Salary : £ 28,000 - £ 30,000 ( based on the experience)
Key Tasks:
Sports pitch maintenance,
Cricket/football pitches
Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding,
Edging, pruning, bed preparation and planting.
Lawn maintenance and cultivation.
The use and maintenance of hand tools and basic light machinery.
The use of cylinder and rotary mowers, strimmer’s, leaf blowers.
Adjustments of mower height and quality of cut, etc. Oil level checks and
Checks for damage to any mower.
To ensure all equipment, machinery and buildings are secure.
To keep the tool shed/mess room clean and tidy.
To carry out gritting, salt spreading, snow clearing.
Assist with the erection and dismantling of sports equipment.
Assist with the initial marking and over marking of the sport pitches, running tracks, field events.
Leafing: November – March Duties include
clearing of leaves in all parks, cemeteries, roads, verges, pathways, alleys etc.
Daily equipment checkingEssential characteristics:
To be able to work as part of a team
To be physically fit
To be able to work in a safe manner
Good communication skills
Full driving licenceDesirable characteristics:
PA1/PA6
