Simple Recruitment are delighted to be working with a well-regarded education establishment in the Castle Cary area, who have an opportunity for a Grounds Person to join their team on a permanent basis.
The Job:
As Grounds Person, you will be working in a varied role carrying out routine maintenance across the school grounds:
Key responsibilities will include:
* Ensure lawns are maintained to a high standard.
* Carrying out daily preparation and maintenance of sports pitches, such as rugby, football and cricket.
* Carrying out general upkeep of sports equipment, such as football goals and cricket cages.
* Assisting with the repair and replacement of fences.
* Carrying out general gardening tasks, such as weeding, planting and leaf clearance.
* Carrying out chainsaw work, as requested.
* Maintaining hard and synthetic surfaces, to include sweeping, blowing and overmarking.
* Further duties as required.
About You:
With a proactive and ‘can do’ approach, you will be joining the wider grounds team to deliver and maintain a high standard for the school. You will have previous experience in general gardening and grounds work. Previous experience in sports turf management and of working in a school environment would be highly advantageous, along with a chain saw license. However, further training can be provided to the right candidate. Owing to location, own transport is required.
The Salary:
Up to £25,500 per annum (dependant on experience).
The Hours:
This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week. There will be a rota to work weekends during the summer term.
