Job Title: Experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative / Team Leader
Pay Rate: £14.24 - £17.93 per hour - Including holiday pay (depending on tickets, ticket combination, and experience)
Location: Coventry
Position Type: Full-Time temp to perm
Hours: Standard Daytime Hours (Monday - Friday) - 7am - 4pm
Role Overview
We are recruiting a tickets-holding Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team for commercial and grounds upkeep projects across the region.
This role requires a practical, hands-on professional with proven experience in heavy grounds machinery, tree surgery support, and general landscape maintenance. Candidates holding valid PA1/PA6, Chainsaw CS30/CS31, and IPAF qualifications will command the upper tier of the pay bracket.
Key Responsibilities
Chemical & Plant Control
Safe application of pesticides and weed control treatments in line with PA1 / PA6 spraying guidelines.
Tree & Vegetation Maintenance
Perform safe ground level chainsaw operations, brush clearance, and fallen timber processing.
Operate stump grinders efficiently to clear stumps and roots from site perimeters.
Machinery & Plant Operation
Operate compact diggers / mini-excavators for ground preparation, trenching, site clearance, and earthworks.
Utilize IPAF platforms (MEWPs) for high-level tree work, hedge cutting, and site maintenance at height.
General Grounds Maintenance
Execute routine grounds maintenance including commercial grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and site tidy-ups.
Ensure daily checks, basic maintenance, and clean-downs are completed on all assigned tools, plant, and machinery.
Key Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Full UK Driving Licence (essential for site movement and vehicle/trailer towing).
Proven track record in general grounds maintenance and commercial site upkeep.
Demonstrated hands-on experience operating diggers, stump grinders, and power tools.
Tickets & Qualifications (Preferred / Essential for higher pay rate):
PA1 & PA6: Safe Use of Pesticides & Handheld Applicators.
Chainsaw Qualifications: NPTC / Lantra CS30 / CS31 (Ground Maintenance & Cross-cutting).
Stump Grinder & Mini Digger Ticket/Experience: CPCS / NPORS or proven site competency.
Pay & Benefits
Hourly Rate: £14.24 - £17.93 / hour (offered rate aligned directly with held tickets and relevant industry experience).
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, daytime hours.
