Overview:
First Military Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client, one of the UK's leading housing associations and developers, for a Grounds Maintenance Mentor and Driver to join their Clean Start Team.
We'd love to hear from ex-military candidates, especially former NCOs, section commanders, drivers and anyone who has led a small team.
This is a permanent, supervisory role where you will lead and mentor a local grounds maintenance team on site, give clear, constructive feedback to help them develop, and make sure standards and targets are met and time on site is recorded. Alongside the operatives, you'll work across contracted sites on grass cutting, weed spraying, clearing leaf fall, removing unwanted growth from trees and tenancy clearance, and you'll act on customer feedback to keep improving the service.
About you
Ex-military preferred, with experience of leading, supervising or mentoring a team (junior or senior NCO experience is a strong fit)
Relevant grounds maintenance experience, or practical, hands-on experience with tools and equipment
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Good understanding of health and safety regulations, and knowledge of COSHH legislation
Full driving licence, as you will drive company fleet vans
A positive, can-do attitude and a disciplined, reliable approach to the job
Desirable: PA1 and PA6 City & Guilds, and chipping and chainsaw experience
An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to apply for one
What's on offer
A salary from £30,387, in a role with real responsibility and the chance to develop others, just as you did in Service
A stable Monday to Friday day shift, finishing at 4:00pm, with weekends and evenings your own
An excellent pension, with the company doubling your contribution up to 6%
28 days' annual leave rising to 31 with length of service, plus bank holidays
Westfield Health Cash Plan and non-contributory life assurance
Up to 21 hours of paid volunteering time
Lifestyle benefits and an Employee Assistance Programme
A team-based, outdoor role with a clear mission: creating clean, safe communities that residents are proud to call home
