About Us:
Bridgnorth is an historic market town on the banks of the River Severn. The town currently has a population of 12,000 and acts as a centre for the rural area of eastern Shropshire.

It has strong links with the nearby West Midlands conurbation and is a popular leisure destination. It is likely that there will be significant population growth in the wider area over the next decade.

We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Apprenticeto support the delivery of horticultural, grounds maintenance and environmental services across assets owned or maintained by Bridgnorth Town Council. The postholder will work as part of a small team, developing practical skills through the apprenticeship while helping to maintain and improve local spaces for residents, visitors and businesses

Some main duties of the role includes:

* To assist with horticultural and grounds maintenance duties across Town Council sites, including riverbanks, highway verges, parks, open spaces, formal gardens, hard surface areas and floral displays

* To use and care for a range of tools, plant and equipment appropriate to the role, including handheld tools, mowers, tractors, brush cutters, leaf blowers, pressure washers and generators.

* To provide support to the buildings and property maintenance team where duties are appropriate to the role, training and supervision arrangements

The successful candidate will have the following:

* Good standard of literacy and numeracy, or willingness to work towards the required apprenticeship standard.

* Interest in horticulture, grounds maintenance and working outdoors.

* Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to learn new skills.

Salary: National Minimum Wage apprenticeship rate (as applicable)

Hours: 37 hours per week, there will be occasional additional weekend and evening working
7.30am to 4.00pm - Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 3.30pm - Friday
