We are recruiting a Graduate Planner for a public sector client in Essex. This role is crucial in delivering customer-focused specialist advice and services for one area of specialism. By keeping up to date with current and emerging legislation, best practices and policy, you will ensure continuous development and improvement in our services, significantly impacting our operations.
Responsibility
Access and accurately update all relevant information systems, both customer and back office, ensuring that the master customer record is updated and maintained through verification and validation and following Data Protection principles.
Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* A relevant qualification in town planning or
equivalent supporting the RTPI membership or a graduate qualification in a related discipline is required.
* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
* A minimum of 1 year's experience within a Planning Department.
* Experience and knowledge of specialist areas, in addition to knowledge of legislation and developments in specialist areas.
* Experience in specialist areas (Casework refers to managing individual cases, typically involving research, analysis, and decision-making).
* Understanding or experience of complex development management work (including significant development) within an urban environment.
* Ability to write complex planning reports and a wide range of correspondence relating to Development Management and other planning issues.
* Understand plans, drawings, and other relevant technical information for planning applications and projects.
* Understanding of or experience in negotiating legal agreements on planning applications.
* Ability to Advise multi-skilled service delivery teams (Customer Solutions, Community Engagement and Case Management) on less complex cases related to the specialism.
* Experience Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and members and managing key relationships, e.g., with Members, partners, and other stakeholders.
* Able to Prepare and present reports to committees and other internal and external meetings.
* Able and willing to attend meetings or work outside regular working hours, e.g., evening meetings or site visits (this may be required occasionally to accommodate the project's needs).
