Graduate Estimating Assistant

Launch Your Career in Construction Commercial & Estimating

Are you a recent graduate with strong analytical skills and a passion for problem-solving? Do you enjoy working with numbers, data and technical information, and want to build a long-term career within the construction industry?

I'm partnering with a successful specialist contractor to recruit a Graduate Estimating Assistant to join their commercial team.

This is an outstanding opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a key commercial function, learning directly from experienced estimators and senior leaders who have built their own careers within the business. In fact, many of the company's senior management team started in trainee and junior positions, making this a genuinely exciting opportunity for someone looking to progress their career.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of a supportive and experienced team, you'll receive full training while developing the technical and commercial skills needed to become a successful Estimator.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with the preparation of project estimates and tender submissions

* Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and project documentation

* Producing quantity take-offs and cost analyses using Excel and estimating software

* Gathering and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations

* Supporting the development of accurate project pricing models and commercial proposals

* Attending site visits and client meetings to gain a deeper understanding of project delivery

* Working closely with senior estimators and commercial managers on live projects

What I'm Looking For

I'm keen to speak with ambitious graduates who are looking to build a long-term career within construction, commercial or estimating disciplines.

You will ideally have:

* HNC, HND or Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building Studies, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline

* Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data and numbers

* Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking

* A naturally curious and technically minded approach

* Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues

* A genuine desire to learn and develop within a commercial construction environment

Why Join?

* £30,000 starting salary

* Clear and credible progression opportunities

* Structured training and mentorship from experienced professionals

* Exposure to high-value construction projects

* Free daily lunch provided

* Costa Coffee machines and modern breakout facilities

* Supportive team environment with excellent staff retention

* Opportunity to build a long-term career within a growing business where internal promotion is actively encouraged

If you're looking for a graduate opportunity that combines technical analysis, commercial awareness and genuine career progression, I'd love to hear from you
