Location: York
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Start your civil engineering career with a team that will give you real project experience and the support to develop your skills. We're looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our civils team in York and contribute to the design and delivery of infrastructure projects.
You'll work with experienced engineers and technicians, gradually taking on more responsibility as your confidence grows. From early design ideas through to detailed drawings and construction support, you'll see how engineering decisions shape projects on the ground.
What you'll be doing
·Helping to prepare civil engineering designs, calculations, drawings and technical reports.
·Supporting work on drainage, highways, earthworks and site infrastructure, depending on project needs.
·Using design software and applying relevant standards under the guidance of senior engineers.
·Reviewing survey information, drawings and other project data to help develop practical solutions.
·Working with colleagues across different disciplines and contributing to project meetings.
·Visiting sites to understand construction methods, constraints and progress.
·Learning how to balance technical requirements, buildability, programme and cost.
·Taking an active role in your professional development and working towards chartership.
What you'll bring
·A degree in civil engineering or a closely related subject, completed or due to be completed soon.
·A sound understanding of core civil engineering principles.
·An interest in how infrastructure is designed and built.
·Care with calculations, drawings and written work.
·The confidence to ask questions, share ideas and work as part of a team.
·A willingness to learn new tools, standards and ways of working.
Experience gained through a placement, internship or university project would be welcome, but it isn't essential. We're looking for someone with a strong foundation, a thoughtful approach to problem-solving and the motivation to keep improving.
You'll be part of a civils team where you can learn directly from experienced colleagues, contribute to live projects and build a broad understanding of the profession. We'll support you as you develop your technical judgement and work towards your longer-term career goals.
