Geotechnical Design Engineer
Reading
£30,000 - £35,000
An established engineering consultancy is looking to recruit a Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its growing team in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide range of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects, delivering geotechnical designs from initial site investigation through to construction.
You'll be joining a supportive and technically strong team where you'll work alongside experienced geotechnical, civil and structural engineers, gaining exposure to challenging projects and clear opportunities for career progression.
The Role
Produce geotechnical designs for foundations, retaining walls, slope stability and earthworks.
Interpret ground investigation data and provide geotechnical recommendations.
Carry out design calculations and prepare technical reports.
Undertake geotechnical assessments and foundation appraisals.
Liaise with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
Support project delivery from feasibility through to construction.
Attend site visits when required to review ground conditions and monitor works.
Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
Around 2-5 years' experience in a geotechnical design role.
Experience interpreting ground investigation data and producing geotechnical designs.
Knowledge of Eurocodes and current UK design standards.
Experience using software such as Oasys, PLAXIS, GeoStudio or similar is desirable.
Strong technical reporting and communication skills.
Full UK driving licence.
