Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire

Salary: £35,602–£54,328 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, pro rata for part-time

Contract: Part-time, permanent (0.5–0.6 FTE)

Start date: January 2027

This permanent, part-time opportunity would suit a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with engaging classroom practice and enjoys sharing their enthusiasm for both human and physical geography.

About the school

Geography is a popular, well-established subject, supported by a department of six Geography teachers and a Humanities teacher. Colleagues work collaboratively to provide consistent teaching while encouraging individual creativity and fresh approaches in the classroom.

Situated in historic St Albans, the school offers an attractive setting with convenient transport links to London and surrounding areas.

Your responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons across the relevant secondary year groups.

• Develop pupils geographical knowledge, enquiry skills and ability to interpret maps, data and evidence.

• Adapt teaching to support different learning needs and challenge pupils to achieve their potential.

• Assess progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.

• Collaborate with colleagues on lesson resources and curriculum delivery.

• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom with high expectations for learning and behaviour.
