Our client is one of the UK’s leading Vertical Farms. They are committed to sustainable and profitable growth through their innovation, production expertise, financial strength and sustainable energy source.
Due to their continued growth and development, they now require a dynamic, focused self starter to act as General Manager majoring on their site based in Staffordshire. The successful applicant will be part of the senior executive team, to lead, support, direct and co-ordinate all activities. Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure objectives are met and expectations exceeded. Trialling new varieties and new growing recipes in addition to developing and testing new technologies prior to embedding in the wider network. You will have responsibility for arranging the provision of all of the inputs, labour, materials, planning and utilities. In addition, the role will assume responsibility for supporting and maintaining H&S and food safety compliance in accordance with company procedures. A broad-based role, the General Manager is a critical element in the success for the Staffordshire site and the extended network of subsequent farms.
The Qualities we want to see
* Strong inclusive leadership experience
* General Management experience with growing experience.
* A hands-on approach, capable of being fully involved with the day to day Management of a number of the key operational elements within the business.
* Highly numerate and computer literate.
* Entrepreneurial confidence with an analytical ability combined with a strong team orientation.
* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills: persuasive and with the gravitas to gain management confidence at all levels.
* Able to structure a plan, marshal resources and work as a team and deliver on commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Degree or equivalent in a related field, agronomy, engineering, finance or management.
• Experience of leading teams.
• Experience of working at management level within a food, R&D, high care or production facility.
• IOSH or similar safety training qualifications.
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated success within a management role.
• Good presentation skills.
• High level competence with Microsoft Office packages, Excel, Word, Power Point etc.
• Strong strategic capabilities enabling the management of complex planning.
