The Role
Briggs is looking for a talented and driven individual to successfully lead its Moorings and Aids to Navigation division. With a direct reporting line to the SBU Director, the General Manager will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening the division’s commercial, operational and safety performance levels, ensuring strategic goals are met, and engaging and motivating colleagues to develop and deliver. They will oversee a team of Managers and Specialists, ensuring consistently high standards of service delivery and client satisfaction. Their duties will include setting clear objectives, organising and communicating effectively, measuring and reporting on project performance, and developing their team and themselves.
Principal Responsibilities
* Deliver excellent safety, environmental and quality standards
* Assume full responsibility for P&L and custody of company assets
* Maintain clients’ reporting requirements and establish and maintain a comprehensive communication plan
* Develop effective, long-term relationships with existing and new customers
* Deliver a consistent high-quality service in line with the company’s quality standards
* Continually improve the quality and consistency of Briggs’ service to its clients
* Understand clients’ businesses with an eye on further collaborations
* Proactively promote the Briggs brand and develop exciting new opportunities in current and adjacent markets
* Meet and exceed customers’ KPIs in contract delivery
* Oversee the effective organisation of day-to-day operations on all contracts
* Keep abreast of any upcoming legislative or regulatory changes, and make recommendations to senior management/the board in regard to their impact and implementation in line with asset protection/management
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of proactively leading and developing a dynamic and varied management team, a clear understanding of the management of profit and loss (P&L), finance, forecasts and budgets, excellent communication, decision-making and delegation skills, and relevant industry experience. It is also expected that the successful candidate will have specialist marine or marine-related technical expertise at a senior/decision maker level.
