General Foreman – Civil Engineering / Rail Infrastructure

Cardiff

Permanent salary + benefits package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Foreman to join a major transport infrastructure project in Cardiff that will help transform public transport connectivity across the city.

Working on a flagship scheme involving rail infrastructure, highways improvements, drainage, utility diversions and public realm works, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest quality standards.

This role would suit an experienced General Foreman with a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects who enjoys leading teams and driving successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise and coordinate daily site operations across designated work areas.

* Manage direct labour, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure efficient delivery of works.

* Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and site-specific requirements.

* Promote and maintain a positive health, safety and environmental culture on site.

* Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inductions where required.

* Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.

* Work closely with Site Engineers, Section Engineers and Site Management teams to coordinate works and resolve issues.

* Monitor progress against programme and proactively identify and mitigate delays.

* Ensure labour, plant and materials are available to meet programme requirements.

* Assist with short-term planning and look-ahead programmes.

* Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress information.

* Ensure temporary works, permits and safe systems of work are implemented correctly.

* Support the management of subcontractor performance and productivity.

* Liaise with clients, stakeholders and local authorities where required.

Candidate Requirements

* Previous experience working as a General Foreman, Foreman or Senior Supervisor within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

* Experience delivering projects involving highways, drainage, utilities, structures, earthworks or rail infrastructure.

* Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing of works.

* Proven ability to manage site teams and subcontractors effectively.

* Excellent leadership and communication skills.

* Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

* Experience working on rail, tram, highways or major transport infrastructure projects.

* SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.

* CSCS Gold or Black Card.

* Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.

* First Aid at Work qualification.

* Experience working under NEC contracts.

* NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
