PSR are recruiting for a Foreman for a Civils contractor to work on Highways schemes in areas 6&8. This is a permanent role, but would look to take a freelancer on too.

General Foreman - Highways (Areas 6 & 8)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced General Foreman to support the delivery of highways maintenance and improvement projects across National Highways Areas 6 & 8. This is an excellent opportunity to lead site operations and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Reporting to the Site Agent or Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site teams, subcontractors and plant, ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with programme, specification and health & safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise day-to-day site operations across highways maintenance and improvement schemes.
Lead direct labour, subcontractors and plant to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Ensure compliance with National Highways standards, company procedures and all health, safety and environmental legislation.
Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inductions.
Review and implement RAMS, permits and safe systems of work.
Monitor programme progress and allocate resources effectively to achieve project milestones.
Coordinate with Site Agents, Project Managers, designers, clients and supply chain partners.
Carry out quality inspections and ensure works meet specification and contractual requirements.
Maintain accurate site records, including site diaries, inspections, plant returns and progress reports.
Identify and resolve on-site issues while maintaining productivity, quality and safety.

Essential Experience

Previous experience as a General Foreman, Foreman or Supervisor on highways or civil engineering projects.
Strong knowledge of highways maintenance, roadworks and infrastructure delivery.
Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and multiple work activities.
Excellent understanding of CDM regulations, health & safety legislation and quality standards.
Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

Essential Qualifications

SMSTS or SSSTS
CSCS Gold or Black Card
Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Qualifications

NRSWA Supervisor
First Aid at Work
Temporary Works Supervisor
National Highways Passport
