Job Purpose:

Operating in line with current legislation, industry standards, approved codes of practice. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to CFM’s Gas Safety Policy and provide expert technical support to the business and client base in relation to gas work. You will support the Gas Quality Assurance Engineers (GQAE) and conduct technical assessment and review in accordance with CFM’s quality control policy and procedure. Deputising for the Head of Gas Safety you will assume their responsibilities and authority where required. Your primary focus will be to ensure the Gas Compliance team operates unbiasedly in accordance with industry practices and procedures. This role requires extensive knowledge of gas safety, compliance, and technical expertise in gas installations. You will be a key contributor to the safety and effectiveness of gas operations across CFM contracts.

Key Accountabilities:

Safety

* Support the intended delivery of the embedded quality framework in achieving its targets, (auditing/competency reviews).

* Act on behalf of The Head of Gas Safety; Conducting thorough incident investigations, particularly in cases of uncontrollable leaks or unsafe workmanship on downstream gas infrastructure.

* Collaborating with the HVAC leadership team in conducting desktop gas contractor vetting, evaluating qualifications and business registration.

People

* Participate in interviews for potential new hires alongside the HVAC leadership team, assessing technical competency.

* Ensure that the GQAE’s are fulfilling their duties as set out within the CFM Gas Safety Policy.

* Collaborate with the Head of Gas Safety in maintaining quality control and assurance processes.

Excellence

* Take technical ownership of the gas infrastructure at distribution sites.

* Identify remedial tasks requiring specialist gas work and designating them to specialist contractors.

Service

* Conduct clerical technical reviews of all submitted gas documentation.

* Develop and maintain live documents at site level detailing the gas infrastructure.

* Provide support in attending pre-start, progress, and handover meetings for projects involving gas works as needed.

* Review gas aspects of project design to ensure suitability and compliance.

* Review, develop and maintain gas task sheets for operational efficiency and safety.

* Deliver technical updates and bulletins to relevant stakeholders.

* Communicate with client suppliers and meter asset managers to report defects and facilitate site access for bulk fiscal meter/governor maintenance at distribution centres / large sites.

* Provide technical advice on all aspects of gas installations to CFM and its partners

Others

* Carry out any reasonable management request.

* Participate in on call rota to provide 24/7 cover.

Financial Responsibilities:

Review all quotations for specialist gas work that has been instructed via the Gas Compliance Team and confirm value for money.

People Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for line managing the Gas Quality Assurance Engineers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong ethos on compliance

Commercial/financial awareness

SVQ/NVQ Level 3 within Heating/Ventilation/Mechanical Equivalent Qualification

ACS Commercial Gas Qualifications COCN, CIGA, CORT, ICPN, CDGA, BMP1, TPCP1/1A as a minimum

ACS Domestic Gas Qualifications CCN1, CENWAT

Level 3 in Auditing Gas Work.

IGEM/GL/8 Incident Investigation (Desirable)

OFTEC (Desirable).

ACS Commercial Catering & Metering (Desirable)

Be registered with IGEM and hold a minimum grade of Engineering Technician. (Desirable).

Fully conversant with all major manufactures systems and equipment.

In depth knowledge of HVAC systems.

Strong PC literacy to include Microsoft word, excel and powerpoint.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Ability to extract, collate and present data.

Excellent planning, organising, prioritisation and project management skills.

Effective problem-solving and decision-making.

Strong results focus, takes accountability for own performance
