About the Role

We are recruiting a Domestic Gas Remedial Engineer to deliver planned and reactive repairs across domestic heating and hot-water systems.

This opportunity is suitable for candidates ranging from newly qualified engineers with the correct domestic ACS qualifications through to experienced remedial engineers.

The Domestic Gas Remedial Engineer will diagnose faults, complete follow-on repairs arising from gas safety inspections and ensure work meets current safety, quality and compliance standards. You will work in occupied domestic properties, so professional communication and respect for residents are essential.

What You’ll Do

* Complete planned and reactive repairs to domestic heating and hot-water systems.

* Carry out inspections and remedial work on domestic gas appliances.

* Complete follow-on repairs identified during gas safety inspections.

* Undertake gas pipework repairs, upgrades, capping, purging and leak rectification.

* Diagnose boiler, heating and hot-water faults accurately.

* Carry out boiler and HIU breakdown repairs where suitably qualified.

* Complete gas servicing when required by operational demand.

* Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

* Explain work clearly to residents and minimise disruption within occupied properties.

* Record work accurately using a PDA, including job updates, logs and timesheets.

* Work safely and comply with all relevant gas, health and safety requirements.

* Maintain the company vehicle and report faults or servicing requirements promptly.

* Participate in toolbox talks and a call-out rota where required.

* Support apprentices where appropriate to your experience and competence.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed as a Domestic Gas Remedial Engineer, you must have:

* Current ACS qualifications, including CCN1, CPA1, CKR1, HTR1 and CENWAT.

* Current Gas Safe registration or the qualifications required to work under the employer’s registration.

* An Unvented Hot Water qualification.

* A sound understanding of domestic gas safety and compliant working practices.

* The ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs safely.

* Good communication and customer-service skills.

* The ability to complete electronic job records using a PDA.

* A full, clean UK driving licence.

* The ability to work independently while contributing to the wider operational team.

Applications are welcomed from newly qualified engineers. More experienced candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong background in domestic gas servicing, breakdowns or remedial work.

Preferred Experience

* Boiler breakdown and fault-finding experience.

* Experience working in social housing or occupied domestic properties.

* HIU certification or practical HIU experience.

* Heat-pump experience.

* Experience working with gas fires, cylinders or HRU systems.
