Description:

Do you possess advanced practical skills gained from within a joinery or cabinetmaking environment which could transfer into designing bespoke furniture ?
We are seeking an individual who is eager to use that practical knowledge in a more technical, drawing-led role, as a Bespoke Furniture Designer using AutoCAD and other design software such as SketchUp?
You do not need to be an advanced CAD specialist, but you should be a joiner / cabinetmaker who is comfortable working with drawings for detail, and accuracy.
We are assisting an established and highly regarded bespoke joinery company in their search for a Bespoke Furniture Designer to join their knowledgeable South London team. The ideal applicant will have a hands-on joinery and/or cabinetmaking background, with a clear understanding of how bespoke furniture and fitted joinery is made.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-quality bespoke joinery projects from concept to completion. Here you will be collaborating with clients, designers, and skilled craftspeople to turn ideas into practical, buildable drawings.
The Furniture Designer opportunity is offered on a permanent, full-time basis. Hours of work are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
What you’ll be doing
* Produce accurate 2D drawings for bespoke joinery and fitted furniture projects
* Turn design concepts into clear, workshop-ready manufacturing drawings
* Work with clients, designers, and workshop teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable
* Update drawings following client feedback, site conditions, and production needs
* Assist with site surveys, detailing, problem-solving, and project documentation
Required experience and professional attributes
* Background in bespoke joinery, cabinetmaking, fitted furniture, or bench joinery is highly desirable
* Practical understanding of timber, MDF, veneers, boards, hardware, and workshop processes
* Hands-on joinery or cabinetmaking experience, with confidence reading or producing technical drawings
* Comfortable using AutoCAD or similar CAD software for clear 2D drawings; advanced CAD expertise is not essential if you have strong joinery knowledge and a willingness to develop
* Strong eye for detail, accuracy, practicality, and buildability
* Good communication skills and a proactive, organised, solutions-focused approach
What’s in it for you?
* Join a busy, growing bespoke joinery business delivering high-quality work
* Work on varied high-end residential and commercial projects
* Be part of a collaborative team that values craftsmanship, precision, and fresh ideas
* Develop your skills with genuine long-term progression potential
* Competitive salary offered, depending on experience
