Description:

We're a luxury furniture maker who work with an international client base. We are an ambitious organisation who are passionate about the industrial heritage of the region, which plays a key role in inspiring what they do.

Our closely-knit team of designers, craftsmen and metalworkers are looking for a talented Furniture Designer of mid-weight or senior level. We need someone with a sharp eye, a technical brain and exceptional attention to detail. You should be able to translate complex designs into clear, digestible drawings, both in 2D and 3D, and should be confident in communicating with their production team.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ worth of relevant industry experience, be competent in using Fusion and AutoCAD, and ideally have a good understanding of metalworking. Above all, you should be passionate about your work and have a willingness to learn.

The right candidate should:

Have a BA(Hons) or equivalent in 3D Design, Product Design or Furniture Design. Candidates with architectural or interior design backgrounds should only apply if they have 5+ years of industry experience working in luxury furniture design.
Have an existing right to work in the UK.
Have a valid UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.
Be able to commute to our workshop in Northeast England or be able to relocate within 1 month.
Have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the furniture design industry.
Have client-facing experience.
Possess at least basic working knowledge of metalwork.
Have experience working with bespoke furniture commissions.
Have excellent 2D and 3D drawing ability. Fusion or SolidWorks proficiency is essential, but training will be given in their company drawing methods. Competency in AutoCAD is also important.
Have rendering experience.
Have professional proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Be able to communicate ideas effectively via hand sketching.
Be technically minded, with a strong problem-solving ability.
Be highly organised, thorough, and not shy of a little admin.
Be willing and able to take instruction from the company Directors, and Project Managers, but to also be proactive and self-motivated.
Possess deep enthusiasm, dedication and a passion for engineering, design, and manufacturing.
Have a desire to continually learn, improve and develop new skills, to be the very best you can be.

The role will cover the following responsibilities:

Leading our new product development under the direction of our Directors.
Preparing production drawings.
Assisting in the design process of bespoke commissions and architectural metalwork projects.
Continually striving to improve drawing standards and efficiency, ensuring drawings suitably reflect the company in their style and appearance.
Preparing PDF presentations for client sign-off, including accurate and thorough 3D dimension drawings and high-quality renders.
Ordering materials from suppliers.
Building an excellent working relationship with the production team.
Documenting workshop processes through video and photography of a high standard.
Assisting with social media and marketing campaigns.

Although this is a predominantly office-based role, it is essential that the candidate is happy to get their hands dirty when required. There is no working from home option with this position.

This role offers a real opportunity to evolve and grow, both in responsibility and salary. We’re looking for someone who is determined and hard-working, and in return, we offer the chance to become a key player in a quickly growing design brand.

Our staff are our most valued asset, and we always strive to create an exciting and inspiring workplace, full of highly talented people. Salary is competitive and based on experience.

Working hours are 8am — 5pm, with a 2.30pm Friday finish. There will be some circumstances where overtime and travel (mainly to London) is required. This role is based near Newcastle upon Tyne in Northeast England.
