Functional Skills Tutor - Maths & English
Location: Central Manchester
Hours: Every Monday, 9:15am - 1:15pm (4 hours)
Contract: Ongoing for the full academic year
Are you passionate about helping young people achieve their potential? We are looking for a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to deliver engaging Maths and English sessions to learners with a range of additional needs.
Whether you're a qualified teacher (QTS) or an experienced tutor with a strong background in supporting learners with SEND/SEMH, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
You'll deliver Functional Skills Maths and English to a small group of approximately 12 learners in a supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering engaging Functional Skills Maths and English lessons.
Teaching a 4-hour block each Monday (2 hours Maths, 2 hours English).
Assessing learner progress through marking and feedback.
Creating an inclusive and positive learning environment that supports individual learner needs.
Adapting teaching strategies to engage students with SEND and SEMH.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
Is a qualified teacher (QTS) or an experienced unqualified teacher/tutor.
Has proven tutoring or teaching experience (essential).
Has experience planning lessons and marking learners' work.
Ideally has experience supporting learners with SEND and/or SEMH.
Is patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping learners succeed.
Can build positive relationships and motivate students to achieve their goals.
