Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Functional Skills Teacher to create an inspiring and supportive learning environment where learners are encouraged to achieve their full potential. This role is a term time only position working 41 weeks of the year.
The successful candidate will have high expectations of learner achievement, progression, and success while recognising and valuing individual differences, cultures, and backgrounds.
As a Functional Skills Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level through to Level 2. You will ensure lessons are informed by current curriculum requirements and up-to-date subject knowledge, helping learners develop the skills and confidence needed to progress.
All teaching staff are expected to promote inclusive learning, celebrate diversity, and create a positive learning environment. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of behaviour, supporting student well-being, and safeguarding learners at all times.
We are looking for a candidate who has:
* A recognised teaching qualification (minimum Level 5).
* A strong understanding of Study Programmes and their practical application.
* Sound knowledge of planning, assessment, and learner progress monitoring.
* Experience applying behaviour management strategies and behavioural theories effectively.
* Knowledge of Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, and Child Protection requirements.
* The ability to adapt teaching and learning approaches to meet individual learner needs and maximise achievement.
* Relevant classroom teaching experience.
* The resilience to manage emotionally demanding situations.
* Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to work positively and professionally with students, colleagues, parents/carers, and external stakeholders.
