Functional Skills Maths Tutor - St Helens
Location: St Helens
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Ongoing
We are looking for a confident Functional Skills Maths Tutor to provide targeted 1:1 support to a learner in St Helens.
This role would suit a teacher or tutor who enjoys making Maths accessible and practical, particularly for learners who may have gaps in their education or lack confidence in the subject.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver personalised Functional Skills Maths tuition
Plan sessions around individual targets and ability
Reinforce core numeracy and mathematical skills
Break down challenging concepts into manageable steps
Encourage engagement and rebuild confidence
Monitor progress and adapt sessions accordingly
Requirements
Experience teaching or tutoring Maths
Knowledge of Functional Skills Maths desirable
Experience supporting learners with additional needs or gaps in education advantageous
Patient and flexible teaching style
Strong communication skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Right to Work in the UK
