Functional Skills Tutor Role Overview
Trigon Recruitment are exclusively recruiting for a Functional Skills English Tutor with a well established and expanding independent Training Provider. The role will be focused around English though ICT skills would be welcomed.
Duties of Functional Skills Tutor
Deliver functional skills English up to level 2
Keep on top of current trends and advise staff and management accordingly
Support learners to pass their Functional Skills through coaching and development using a blended approach
Fully prepare learners for all elements of their exams including speaking and listening, reading and writing
Ensure exams are booked, results chased and published
Be familiar with e-portfolio systems
Experienced with BKSB or similar
Be able to evidence high levels of feedback and differentiated learning
All associated administration relating Functional Skills
Skills and Attributes required
Must be a qualified Functional Skills Tutor and hold relevant qualification
Have experience delivering Functional Skills from Entry level to level 2 in English
Competence in developing learners through formal training, coaching and mentoring
Good communication skills
IQA qualification is preferable
Flexible to travel across the locations (access to a car necessary) – Ashton, Tameside, Wigan and Central Manchester.
Organised and administratively capable
Knowledge of booking exams
Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent, in subject matter
Essential Criteria
Assessor Qualification (A1, D32/33, TAQA, CAVA) or willingness to work towards
Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths, English and ICT
Experience of using an e-portfolio
Experience of delivering vocational qualifications successfully
Strong IT Skills
Recognised level 5 teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, DET or equivalent
GCSE English Language or equivalent (Grade A*-C)
