Frontend Web TV Developer For Smart TV's (Remote)
Day Rate - £200 - £450 (Based on Experience)
Contract – 6 months (Potential for Permanent Role)

Role Overview:
You will join one of the worlds largest media streaming platforms. Your role will be to build, deploy, and maintain our media streaming platform. The team controls playback end-to-end, from transcoding uploaded media all the way to custom-embedded players in our native and web apps. We handle petabytes of data and gigabytes per second of traffic and strive to provide the best playback experience to our users.
Experience:
You have solid backend engineering skills and are motivated to work in these areas. You’re enthusiastic about learning new skills and technologies. You’re proactive and have experience collaborating closely with other teams. You enjoy creating simple solutions to complex engineering problems and can communicate them to product managers and your team. You’re an independent thinker but thrive in a tight-knit agile team. You’re committed to the products you work on.
• Go and Terraform are our main languages, so you are either already proficient in them or excited to learn.
• Prior experience with microservices, databases, automated testing, and continuous delivery are highly valued.
• You are familiar with media streaming protocols such as HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), codecs (e.g., Opus, AAC) and transport container formats.
• Deep understanding of streaming platforms built using cloud-based file management and CDN tools (e.g. AWS S3, Cloudfront).
• Experience with content protection and encryption is a big plus. We care much more about your general engineering skills than any prior knowledge of a particular language or framework. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
Requirements:
• Experience with React/Redux UI design concepts and modern frontend development practices,
• 8+ years of frontend or UI experience
• 2+ years of React experience
• (Desirable) Experience with Samsung Tizen, Vizio, LG, or other Smart TV development
• (Desirable) Experience with React Native, Flutter, or using web technologies on any non-browser platform
• (Desirable) Experience with Redux, TypeScript, GraphQL/Apollo
• (Desirable) Experience with focus management frameworks,
• (Desirable) Experience with BrightScript, SceneGraph, or other Roku APIs and ecosystem
• (Desirable) Development experience with video playback, cross-device interoperability (e.g. casting), or other 10-foot, connected TV platforms in general (e.g. Roku, Fire TV, Android TV or Apple TV) What the job involves
