Freight Forwarder. Ocean Import & Export

Location: Solihull
Salary: Up to £35,000
Hybrid working: 1 day working from home per week
Hours: Monday to Friday

We are recruiting for a customer-focused Freight Forwarder to join a global logistics company based in Solihull.

This is a full operational role handling import and export shipments from quotation through to final invoicing. The position has a strong ocean freight bias, although candidates from air freight, road freight or multimodal backgrounds will also be considered.

Training can be provided on freight modes you have not previously handled.

The role

Manage ocean import and export shipments

Handle the full process from quotation through to invoicing

Act as the main point of contact for customers

Provide accurate quotations and shipment updates

Book freight with shipping lines, carriers and overseas agents

Arrange collections, deliveries and international transport

Prepare and check shipping documentation

Complete customs documentation where required

Monitor shipments and resolve delays or operational issues

Liaise with customers, hauliers, shipping lines and overseas partners

Ensure files are accurate, complete and invoiced promptly

Deliver a consistently high level of customer service

Requirements

Previous freight forwarding or international shipping experience

Experience within import, export or cross-trade operations

Ocean freight experience is preferred

Strong customer service skills

Good communication and organisational skills

Ability to manage shipments from start to finish

Strong attention to detail

Confident dealing with customers and suppliers

Proactive approach to problem solving

Willingness to learn new freight modes
